How a Cloud is formed?

There are many misconceptions about the term cloud, usually because  there are so many definitions of it. One common misconception is that clouds are completely based on virtualization. Though virtualization usually  plays a major role in a cloud deployment, a cloud can also just  mean a shared infrastructure.  Take, for example, Google’s Gmail . This is public cloud service that does not rely much on virtualization.  Instead, massive amounts of physical hardware are in use behind the scenes.  The cloud is also not about having a dedicated network attached storage (NAS) hardware or server in residence. Storing data on a home or office network does not count as utilizing the cloud.  For it to be considered "cloud computing," you need to access your data or your programs over the Internet, or at the very least, have that data synced with other information over the Web.  In a big business, you may know all there is to know about what's ...

Is Cloud a device?

Is Cloud a rain droplet? No. It is collection of droplets. In the same way, IT cloud is collection of nodes, where each node can communicate with each other. If you had accessed software applications through a network connection, often by accessing data centers using wide area networking (WAN) or Internet connectivity, before 2008, remember that the service provider owned the hardware, meaning, the investment on hardware was done by the service providing company. Now instead of owning the hardware, company can outsource. Having said that, customer can access the hardware attributes remotely from any geographical location.  Please digest the analogy which I am giving now. Say you owned a Maruti 800 car. You used to enjoy the car. But you have to be with car's location to do so. But today, you can enjoy any car at any time, from any geographical area. Just imagine in same way, for your PC. Somebody else will maintaining your PC. And it will be always up. No do...

Cloud - The Heavy Jargon

Hi all. This is the first post of this blog. I have been hearing the word "cloud", right from my childhood. The cloud that brings rain. But when, in IT industry, I heard this again, I was curious to know, what is it? In IT industry, each and every terminology has been borrowed from real world entities. Example: Payload, which was used in rocket science. So I assumed the same way for cloud. Cloud brings rain. So the IT cloud does!! Something like this. "Hey, you do not drill land for water, instead I will pour for you". Similarly, you do not buy hardware components to get them assembled as computer, instead cloud will give one. But does cloud work without internet? The answer for now is "NO". Now I will ask some better questions, which will fetch us answer for all our queries hidden. Is cloud a device? How a cloud is formed? Examples of cloud in real-time? Why should I need cloud? What are SaaS, PaaS, IaaS? Why the future is movi...
